A medically assisted treatment (MAT) program is designed to support those individuals that are living with a current opioid addiction or alcohol addiction. These powerful substances are highly addictive and can cause significant withdrawal symptoms or strong alcohol or drug cravings that can easily derail a person from the path of sobriety. A MAT program utilizes the support of specific medications that help to lessen the strong urges for drugs and alcohol to help keep patients feeling focused and strong to overcome their alcohol or drug addiction.
In conjunction with the specific substance abuse treatment methods of behavioral therapy, dual diagnosis treatment, and trauma therapy, medication assisted treatment can help to propel patients on to the road to addiction recovery and support them in making a long-term change towards healing from alcohol and drug addiction.
Patients can receive MAT in either an inpatient or outpatient setting. As you progress and are feeling stronger and healthier within your addiction recovery, you will be able to slowly taper off of the medications provided with the ongoing supervision of medical professionals that are a part of our clinical team at DayBreak.
What To Expect During MAT?
When you begin a MAT program, you will meet with the onsite medical team who will complete initial assessments and interviews that will help us determine the levels of care that you will need to successfully go through your addiction treatment in Trenton and MAT program. After gaining perspective of your medical history and history of substance abuse, you will then be invited to participate in a MAT program. Patients are not required to participate in a MAT program as it is voluntary. Should you agree to partake, you may be offered the following medication to support in reducing withdrawal symptoms and alleviating any severe drug or alcohol cravings:
- Suboxone
- Buprenorphine
- Methadone
- Naltrexone
Along with medications provided, patients will undergo addiction therapy methods that will support you in healing from the emotions and traumas of your past that have influenced your drugs and alcohol abuse. Commonly used addiction therapy methods for substance use disorders are:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
- Dual Diagnosis Treatment
- Holistic treatment methods
- Trauma therapy approaches
- Relapse prevention education and group therapy processes
- Life skills development
Trenton NJ residents are able to attend their addiction treatment and MAT program within a variety of levels of care. We value the unique needs of each patient and want to provide a healing opportunity that meets you where you are and allows you to heal in a setting that you find comfortable, appropriate, safe. Patients are able to choose from a residential treatment center where you will reside within the recovery center and remove yourself from any outside distractions and triggers. Other Trenton NJ residents that are looking for a flexible option to treatment for opioid or alcohol addiction may choose an outpatient treatment program such as an intensive outpatient rehab or partial hospitalization program that will allow you to attend the recovery center for individual therapy sessions and group therapy processes while providing the freedom to return home each night to your loved ones and also to maintain your prior responsibilities at work or school.
